1. Who can submit to The Affectivist Project?

Artists aged 13–18 from any country are welcome to submit lens-based visual works, including photography and related digital media.

2. What kinds of work do you accept?

We accept single images, series (up to 5 works), and portfolios (up to 10 works). Your work doesn’t need to follow a cohesive theme unless otherwise stated—just your unique perspective.

3. Is there a submission fee?

Yes, a small submission fee is required to help support the ongoing work behind The Affectivist Project. These funds contribute directly to the operational costs of maintaining the platform—including compensating guest jurors, editors, and other creative professionals who help review submissions, curate content, and ensure the highest quality experience for both artists and audiences

4. Can I submit previously published work?

Yes. We prefer unpublished pieces, but we do accept previously published work. Our focus is on amplifying young creatives and providing more visibility.

5. When can I submit?

Submissions open on the second Monday of every month and close on the fourth Monday of each month giving you a 2 week submission period. Selected participants will be notified before the end of the month and will be  published within the first week of the following month.

6. How will I know if my work is selected?

Only selected participants will be notified due to the volume of submissions. If chosen, you’ll receive an email with next steps if any are necessary.

7. Can I edit my submission after sending it in?

No—once your submission has been sent, it cannot be edited. Please carefully review all materials before submitting, as changes will not be permitted after submission, even if it is before the deadline. Submission fees are non-refundable once your entry has been submitted.

8. What rights does The Affectivist Project retain?

9. Do I need consent to submit photos of others?

Yes. If your work features someone else, you must have full permission (or guardian consent if they’re under 18). Proof may be requested.

10. Can I submit work more than once?

Yes! We welcome multiple submissions across different months and themes.

11. What are pop-up prompts?

From time to time, we release themed prompts outside our regular cycle. These are special opportunities with unique deadlines and publishing terms.

12. Do you accept AI generated imagery?

 No, not unless stated otherwise for a pop-up prompt

13. If published already may they author submit again to be considered for new works?
